Rattrapage

"Rattrapage" is the term used to describe the nationalist ideology of the Quebecois people after the Quiet Revolution of the 1960s. Rattrapage means literally "to catch-up" and the atmosphere of Quebec was to catch up technologically, socially, and politically to the rest of Canada. The Quebec state or government took over from the church as the protector and producer of the Quebecois identity. This illustrated the shift from the previous "survivance" ideology which sought to protect the Quebec identity through traditionalism and isolation.
