Outside of Sem, in
the courtyard, you can see a myriad of colours produced by the leaves of
both the Maple and the Chestnut trees: from green to red and yellow. The
carpet of green grass is now covered with chestnuts, broken Chestnut shells,
and an abundance of fallen autumn coloured leaves. Trees of red, orange
and yellow surround the courtyard and paths that cross back and forth across
the grass with the clock tower overlooking out toward the steps of our residence.
Each clear night the beautiful stars are visible above the courtyard. The
courtyard is surrounded on all sides by towering maple and chestnut trees
which litter the ground with colorful leaves and nuts that cover the plush
grass with incredible mosaics.
Sem is the most beautiful
residence on campus; it is an historical site located at the center of
the Acadia campus . The house is shaped like an "L" the base of the "L"
faces the courtyard. It is painted white both inside and out. The residence
itself is an authentic white building a most unique building stands tall,
both in stature and in pride. beautiful heritage site The L-shaped building,
built entirely of wood, shields a small courtyard which stares up at three
rows of narrow, arched windows that line the entire span of the dry walls.
The ceilings are
extremely high compared to the other residences; this allows each room
to seem large, even when it is not. The windows are a beautiful frame
for the outside campus. The majority of the rooms are unique. All rooms
have either beautiful wood floors or very recent carpeting. The student
rooms inside of Sem are the largest rooms on campus; many of our single
rooms are at least as large as other residence's doubles. The rooms and
halls are flooded with sunlight provided by the broad arched windows in
each room. There are a number of common areas that the majority of the
residents frequently make use of: the pool room, the front lounge, and
the television lounge. on the inside the walls are well decorated with
art and historical memorabilia.
The most impressive
aspect of Seminary House is not the actual structure but the atmosphere
of the building. The atmosphere of Seminary House is created by the residents
of Sem itself; everyone who lives here gets along incredibly well. The
originality of the house allows for a very close and friendly relationship
between the students who live in the residence. Sem exemplifies everything
that is the Acadia spirit from close personal interaction to creating
a technologically advanced student. There is no other building on the
campus which can compete with the atmosphere of friendship and hospitality
exuded by Sem. It provides each student with an excellent atmosphere for
studying, while also giving them the feeling of comfort and freedom which
keeps students from being cramped and gives a greater feeling of home.
