John LeBaron, (John_Lebaron@uml.edu) is currently Professor School of Education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In 1998-1999, John undertook a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Oulu in Finland, where his contribution to the initiative described in this article was originally launched. He is editor and author for the forthcoming Jossey-Bass volume, A Place for Technology: Technology in its Place.

Jyrki Pulkkinen serves as Manager of the Research Unit in Educational Technology at the University of Oulu in Finland. He has worked as a manager and as a researcher in several networked teacher education projects within and outside the European Union. Jyrki is currently representing Finland as an educational technology consultant in South Africa. He may be reached at jyrki.pulkkinen@oulu.fi.

Patrick Scollin (Patrick_Scollin@uml.edu) is Director of Computer Laboratories for the College of Health Professions, and a doctoral candidate University of Massachusetts Lowell School of Education. Patrick has served on the Technology for Academic Development subcommittee of the University of Massachusetts systemwide Information Technology Council and recently co-authored Implementing Distance Learning: Frameworks for Change in The Internet in Higher Education.
