By using the hypertext topic links and the back/forward four-second buttons, the user can closely scrutinize the lecturer's actions or statements.
In the figures below, we see Dr Bell explaining how to use the equation editor on Microsoft Word.  The students can repeatedly review both the motivating example (on the overhead projector) and the associated actions using the live software demonstration.

Obviously, in the normal lecture environment close scrutiny of actions and statements is hard (or impossible) to achieve.
