Students' Use of Learning Objects

Professor Tom Boyle is the Director of the Learning Technology Research Institute at London Metropolitan University. He holds degrees from three British universities, with higher degrees in Psychology and Computing, and he has written a book and over one hundred journal and conference papers on learning technology. For the past two years he has been leading a major project on the development, use and evaluation of learning objects that has produced dramatic improvements in student performance. He has acted as a consultant on eLearning to the Open University. He is also Assistant Director (with responsibility for Pedagogy) for the Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Information and Computer Sciences. This Centre provides guidance in curriculum, pedagogy and eLearning to all Computing and Library and Information Science departments in the United Kingdom.

Claire Bradley is a Research Fellow at the Learning Technology Research Institute at London Metropolitan University. She has a Masters degree in Interactive Multimedia. For the past 7 years she has worked on a number of UK and European research projects involved in eLearning, online communities, multimedia and in the general application and evaluation of eLearning in teaching and learning. She has co-authored a number of journal articles and papers in these areas. Prior to working as a researcher, she worked for 12 years in developing and producing distance learning materials for adult learners.
